Dr. Ian Moore
Dr. Moore grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii. He moved to California
the first time to attend Long Beach State University, where he
received his B.S. in physiology with a minor in chemistry. In
2002 he received his doctorate from the National College of
Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. He completed a one
year residency in Portland where he worked with the main
teaching clinic of the college as well as several community clinics.
Example of Naturopathic Medicine at Work:
(The following is an actual case I had the privilege to work on during my residency)
A client at one of our teaching clinics presented with symptoms of severe fatigue to the
point it was a struggle to hold his infant son. The client was in his early thirties. He also
complained of poor memory and concentration. His symptoms were severe enough that
they made simple daily tasks a struggle. After a thorough history of his symptoms, medical
and social history, diagnostic tests did not reveal any significant findings to explain his
symptoms. His history however had revealed that he had spent a few years living in Japan.
While in Japan the client revealed that he had eaten sushi fairly regularly.
A heavy metals test was ordered which revealed that his mercury levels were nearly off the
scale used to measure them. After a few months of chelation treatment, the client showed
vast improvement in his symptoms. The heavy metals test was repeated at this time, and
revealed a significant drop in his levels. His treatment was continued to further remove the
existing mercury.
The client continued to progress over the months of treatment, and was once again able to
enjoy his life with his family. If his symptoms had been misdiagnosed or overlooked, he
most likely would have developed irreversible nerve damage. This client could have easily
been mislabeled as having chronic fatigue, or severe depression and the source of the
problem would have never been addressed.
